1) Elite - Had a bye this week to rest the old weary bones of their captain, savior, leader, and the unmitigated talent that binds and carries the team Charlie Klose. As long he plays they will be considered the cream of the crop.
2) Commission - played a tight one and held on against Team Soul. HAHAHAHAHA jk. BTW dominated without Marcus Chew against Team Soul which can only mean bad things for the rest of the league.
3) Irish - played the newbies on the schedule and came away with a ho-hum 32-0 shutout against Way2Crafty. Haven't been tested yet, but they're dominating the teams they should be dominating. Hopefully there will be no photographic evidence of a body littered on the field after being on the wrong end of a collision.
4) Saints - had a bye after playing in the Snow Bowl to benefit the Special Olympics. They did not come away with a win, but raised money and awareness for a good cause and had fun doing so. Bravo gentlemen.
5) Overachievers - managed to stifle the second best offense in the league by holding Laces Out to 13 points with a yeoman like effort. Always solid and workman like. Nothing changes.
6) Suicide Squad - shook up the world with a two point win over perennial favorites Money Team and a SHUTOUT win against new to the scene, championship guarantee, but make a lot of screams to see their team Panthers. These guys are already starting with the hashtags. They have made one small step for a team, but one giant leap for MCFFL-kind.
7) You Gone Learn Today - followed up last week's 24 point blowout win with an improbable 19-12 win against 3 time champion Money Team. They were feeling unsure during the game, but as the game wore on you could see the confidence grow. Could be a sleeper.
8) HMC Elite - my team was dragging their asses to the field which forced me to start out on defense. Once we got everyone there we promptly gave up a touchdown and missed a ton of flags. We were flat on offense and only scored once the first half. The second saw a different effort. We held the Warriors to one touchdown, came from behind to go up and then hold off a last ditch effort for the win. We have plenty of room for improvement, but I will happily take this win.
9) Team USA - another team with a bye this week. Found out that Sean Lang and I work for the same company so there is that. Otherwise, I have nothing to give you for Team USA except that they move up one spot without playing.
10) Warriors - played a pretty well rounded in a game decided on fourth down. I got called a crybaby for calling them out on the use of the mushroom flags. If calling them out is wrong, I don't wanna be right. They're a good team. They're going to be a good team. This game will only make them battle tested for whichever playoff they make.
11) Lions - saw zero snaps of their game against the Raptors. However, since the Raptors aren't in the rankings this week let me commend them for having dope jerseys. The Lions rallied for a big win this week evening their record at 1-1.
12) Old Dogs - every time I look up and see these guys they're making a big play on offense. Typically it is Daly, but this week I saw their QB EJ Nemeth boot-scootin and boogeying for an unlikely touchdown in a high scoring game against the Falcons. BTW much like his old man who once got kicked out of the game for intentionally calling a play so he could throw the ball at an official, Pat Daly received two unsportsmanlike penalties this week for his hi-jinks against the Falcons. He won't play for three weeks <sigh>.
13) Miami - followed up last week's offensive clunker with a 57 point outburst against The Replacements. Not sure what happened in that game, but I saw multiple two point attempts when the game was well in hand. Par for the course I suppose. Welcome back Steve Daisy. I just heard about your injury over the holidays and I am glad you got to come back and play football.
14) Blue Bulls - scored 52 points and managed to bring DOWN the defensive scoring average of the Hornets to 55 points allowed a game! At this pace the Hornets will allow 550 points for the season which would be quite the record. I don't have anything to give you about the Bulls, but they made the top half of the rankings so that has to mean something right?
15) Nukes - found the win column for an impressive 26-7 win over the Longhorns. Apparently it was so bad that certain members of the Longhorns were found scouring their phonebooks to inquire about playing on other teams. Once you've played one snap you cannot jump to a different team. That is actually in the rules. Nukes look to build on this success after the Easter break.
16) Hardville - paid their league fees in straight cash homey. Not to mention they mollywhopped on the Bulldogs for a 46-7 win. The game saw two consecutive pick sixes at the end of the first half which essentially sealed the victory. Easy group of dudes to like and I am glad to have them up here.
In consideration: Panthers, Way2Crafty, The Replacements
