1. Saints - game against the Giants was far closer than anyone had expected. The Giants gave the Saints all they could handle until the Kosher Kannon found his stroke and the end zone to pull out the come from behind victory. Judging by the alcohol I smelled on the sideline this version of the Saints SMELLED a lot like the old version. Miami hopes to get the old version on Sunday.
2. Chargers - found themselves down 6 - 0 after the first play of the game, but did what they always do and found a way to win. The defense held the O's to two scores and reasserted their dominance. Get the Warriors this week on the back end of a doubleheader.
3. Miami - NKOTB. Beat Team USA after starting with 5 and spotting the Patriots a 19 point lead. From that point forward Miami outscored Team USA 41-6. That shows dominance. I thought maybe this team had to grow, but they may be ready for greatness now. Hard to believe when you consider who is back there playing QB, but the record tells you what you are and right now they're 6-1.
4. Wildcats - Whenever I want to count out the Wildcats they go ahead and beat a good team. Might be the least likable team in the league not named Warriors, but this ain't a miss congeniality pageant this is FLAG FOOTBALL! Oh yeah, we should probably chill. Play the suddenly relevant Dynasty.
5. Titans - After rattling off five straight wins the Titans came crashing down with a tough loss against their bitter rivals. Losing to a good team is never a bad thing so this loss should hurt bad! Quietly, the Titans are putting in a good season. Look to keep things going against Money Team.
6. Overachievers - jumped on the Chargers on the very first play of the game. Played two phases of the game well as the offense forgot to show up for the party. Hard to take this team seriously as players are showing up at halftime for a statement game. Can make things right as the first game of the Warrior doubleheader.
7. Spartans - Wolfpack, PL Vikings, Rock Nation, Goats, Bulldogs. Those have been the teams vanquished by the Spartans this season. They're a nice story, but when rubber meets the road they may have a hard time keeping pace with the big boys. Right now it doesn't matter they have earned number seven. First test will be a revenge match against the Crimson Tide.
8. Dynasty - Is this another paper tiger that has found their way into the rankings. The records of the teams they have beaten this season: 13-20 for a winning percentage of .394. Dynasty has a shot to win their division. They're doing it without Big Play Ray. Now they'll have to do it against the wildcats.
9. Money Team - Finally found the win column after two consecutive defeats. Money Team has been scuffling, but they vow to win the league again. Not going to be too hard with the returning services of Ty Hill who has been in the league for three season and been to the finals in each of them while winning two. Bro Gods will need to unite and keep AJ from boarding that plane to Cali. They still have time, but they'll need to beat the Titans this week.
10. Gators - most of this season the Gators have been playing stout defense and struggling to find points. This week after finding the cheat codes to their offense it looks like the codes backfired on the defense as they looked like they caught with their pants down against a suddenly resurgent Tide team. Still treading water, but will need to find a way to play a complete game against the Giants.
11. Beefcake - I know he had a kid, but I need me some Word Wardie in my life. Beat up on the PL Vikings for their fourth win of the season as they look to make a late season push to the playoffs. Could avoid the "B's" with a win against the Jokers this week. #Word #toyourmother #Wardie #Respect
12. Mud Dogs - took advantage of Tony Arroyo's rust, big belly and lack of ability as they beat the Rock Nation without Bryan Henry who has quit on a struggling team due to "injury" for the second time in three seasons. I'm sorry this is about the Mud Dogs. They won and need to keep winning against the OG's in order to avoid a "B" playoff run.
13. Team USA - went one and one on Sunday as they squandered an early lead against Miami, but rallied in their second contest to defeat the Lions and force Matthew Chernobyl to go nuclear in their game. Team is currently sitting at 4-4 and will need to win out to have a shot at making the A playoffs. Silverbacks will put them one step closer to that reality this week.
14. Outcast - I know you like to think your shit don't stink but get a little closer darling roses really smell like poo poo pooooo. I think of that song every time I write about this team or whenever I watch them play. They're having a very good inaugural season, but soon the clock will strike twelve. Will they be at the ball? Start by beating the Old Dogs for a chance at the dance!
15. Old Dogs - Dudes had a bye. We got a lecture from Steve Phillip's son which leads me to this. You ain't got shit on the old man. Ain't no one trying to hear you preach. I know your father taught you to stay quiet and listen when the grown folk are talking. Time for you to heed that lesson boy! In the meantime the Old Dogs get the Outcasts.
16. Warriors - I know the Warriors agree with me when I say that it always feels like the Warriors get the Chargers on the back end of a double header. He needs to rethink his position because it might be foolish to over look the Uh-Ohs fresh off their moral victory against those same Chargers. Doubleheader against the Overachievers and the Chargers. This will determine their fate.
17. OG's - I'm tired. The league has gotten better over the last two years, but it feels like the there are more teams in the middle which is why I find myself writing blurbs about teams like the OG's. Wasn't that long ago when these guys were asking if it was okay to have women on the roster! BTW if the Warriors can do it so can you. Beat the wolfpack and now face off against the Mud Dogs.
18. Giants - talk about inspired. That defense gave the Saints all they could handle in the second half as the Saints made it over mid field exactly one time in that half. Alas turnovers and lack of execution proved to be the undoing of the Giants in hat game. They sit at one game below 500 and look to get back to that mark against the Gators.
19. Crimson Tide - cannot underestimate the heart of a champion. Even if that Champion is only a champ in Burlington. The Tide needed to get in the win column and did exactly that as they beat on the two halves of the Arroyo family like they stole something. Now they get another double header as they play a winnable game against the Wolfpack and a revenge game against the Spartans.
20. Raiders - what a difference a season makes. The Raiders are in a tailspin with no quick relief or remedy in sight. The magic of the Spring season has worn off. What is left looks an awful like a team headed for the "B's". The gauntlet has been trying for a team expected to contend this season. Look to get back to 500 with a game against the Bulldogs.
Honorable mention: Ducks, Alter Ego, Badd Guys
