That's not new.
Field 1
8am Suicide Squad v Those Guys - both of these teams struggled last week against teams that normally find themselves in the B playoffs. Suicide Squad managed to overcome Venom while Those Guys lost against the Warriors. This game means much more to Those Guys than it does to Suicide Squad. Squad is used to the weekly MCFFL grind of the regular season. Those Guys are about to find out that success in other places isn't always a harbinger of success in the MCFFL. 0-2 doesn't look good for Those Guys, but it is coming.
9am Lions v Commission - REMATCH! The playoff game between these two was EPIC. Back and forth all game with dueling QBs and even better defenses. The game came down to the final play which took more time than the OJ Trial to figure out. Thankfully they got it right! The Lions needed all 40 minutes to overcome the Knights on the last meaningful play of the game. The Commission dispatched of the better than expected Ducks for an easy 14 point win. Styles make fights and these two teams will be close in another thrilling game. I think the Commission takes the game and exacts some level of revenge with legal flags.
10am Irish v Elite - Ron Ira is back. Watched his game last week waiting for Green 80 but it never came! The Irish also managed to beat You Gone Learn Today by holding them to 6 points. Elite hasn't been on the field together since getting Mollywhopped by the Lions in the playoffs last season. Elite has been unable to reproduce the success of their inaugural season when they had fire in their bellies and a motivated G.O.A.T. If they want to be remembered for being more than the team that Charlie carried to a title the rest of the teams will to have to step up their game. They step up this week in a big way.
11am GW Tire v HMC Elite - I like most of these guys. They were my teammates and friends for seven really good, successful years. We've played each other twice since I was booted. We are 1-1, but my team's win comes with an asterisk since Daniel Sasso was not at that game. GW Tire hammered Hardville in a laugher. HMC Elite blew a 20-0 halftime lead in a 27-26 loss to KPC. HMC is scuffling right now and scuffling is not a good look against a team as good as GW Tire and Jermell Welch. I can see GW Tire doing a tuna sub (read it backward) on us.
Field 2
8am Average Joes v You Gon Learn Today - I asked Average Joe's what they thought of the Saints after getting thumped 54-7. "I wasn't impressed. They have good communication and chemistry, but their athletes aren't better than ours. I wasn't impressed with them!". I know people think I make this shit up, but I just can't! You Gone Learn Today lost to the Irish in what can best be described as a defensive struggle. Luckily for Average Joe's, You Gon Learn Today is a tier below the Saints. In spite of that designation I think You Gone Learn Today will give the Average Joe's another unimpressive loss.
9am Venom v Miami - Tough day for Venom as they lost a close game against Suicide Squad. Miami started out the season with a shutout win over Alter Ego. Shutout over anyone is a tough task. However, Venom is a stretch better than Alter Ego. Even still Venom gets the tuna sub on their record.
10am Saints v Warriors - speaking of tuna. No one likes a proverbial sub more than Brandon Feinstein. It is the essence of every text message he sends. The Saints impressively beat the Average Joe's 54-7. Would have been 55, but the officials would not allow the Saints to attempt their final extra point. Warriors pulled out a win over Those Guys. That's one win closer to the A playoffs. Bruce believes he has a championship team every season. If that's the case we have a precursor to a title game. It just won't be one the Warriors will win.
11am Raptors v Exquisite - The Raptors were on the sideline loving life last week after their win over the Spartans. Exquisite had a ticket for the struggle bus that saw them lose their first game against the neophyte Ravens. Exquisite might be the tallest collective group of football humans I have seen in Mercer EVER. They will be the tallest team to lose two weeks in a row.
12pm KPCs v Ravens - The team formerly known as Crimson Tide did a very unCrimson Tide like thing by scoring four times in the second half against HMC Elite and erasing a 20-0 halftime deficit for a 27-26 win. The Ravens beat the MCFFL NBA team Exquisite in a thriller. Actually, I have no idea how they did it. KPC is an up and down team, but their happy and healthy. I think that will be enough to beat the Ravens.
Field 3
8am Hardville v Dynasty - Pretty sure these two teams finished as the bottom two teams in the league last season. That means one of these teams will get an early season win and avoid be the suckiest of the suck. John Dohanic is my guy so I got Hardville being the least sucky of the sucky suckness.
9am Old Dogs v Bulldogs - Ralph is excited for the "battle of the dogs". Sadly, these dogs don't hunt. Historically they don't win either. However, the planets must be aligned because both teams won last week with wins over Dynasty ans Swavey Customs. When these teams have played they have typically been wins by the Old Dogs. I cannot think of one single solitary thing that would make me change my mind. Ralph deals in Marijuana. Hook it up and I might hook you up on the blog. Either way the Old Dogs win.
10am Blue Bulls v Falcons - tough start for the Blue Bulls as they opened with Elite week one and got trounced 34-7. I was suprised they even got 7. The Falcons have added MCFFL legends Kenny Gluck and Velvet Victor Veltre. It is literally like 7 titles between those two. Ken jumped on due to an undisclosed medical condition of Justin Trinidad. Get well buddy. Falcons hold things down with an easy win over the Blue Bulls.
11am Ducks v Spartans - Bob beat the dog shit out of the Average Joe's (wasn't a good day for the Joe's) albeit in Burlington. The Spartans lost a heartbreaker to the Raptors which only proves that the partans have heart! In my heart of heart I want this to be a good game, but the Ducks are better than people expect and this won't be so close. Ducks drown the Spartans in the Mercer County lake!
Bye: Knights, Alter Ego & Swavey Customes
