I know I am late, but at least I am here. I may not be what I was, but I am still pretty good. Welp, enough trying to convince you with my words. I'll just make the picks.
Field 1
8am Dynasty v Blue Bulls - Dynasty has gotten off to a slow start this season. Looking down the barrel of an 0-3 start Dynasty is looking to get out of the L column. The Blue Bulls are exactly where blue bulls should be. If you're looking for a quality game go somewhere else. If you're looking for excitement, go somewhere else. If you're looking for your first win this is the game for you. Or Dynasty anyway.
9am Bulldogs v Alter Ego - credit to Antoine Jamar for this statistic. Every team that played last week scored at least two touchdowns except... Alter Ego almost scored as many as the Bulldogs did last week and they didn't even play. Alter Ego is not known for their defense so I suspect the Bulldogs will get at least two touchdowns even if they don't get the win.
10am Silverbacks v Goats - I am writing this down in case they ever want to go back and read it. The Silverbacks are 2-0 and have allowed 21 points coming into week 3. This week they play a Goats team that beat the dogshit out of a Laces Out team fielding 4 players. I am calling it now, SILVERBACKS START THE SEASON 3-0!
11am The Replacements v Spartans - After a heartbreaking loss to the Silverbacks in week one the Replacements stormed back with a big win over the Dillon Panthers. The Spartans have chosen to move on after the departure of their venerated leader Jim Connelly. The results have been the same. These two teams are seemingly evenly matched, but I know better. I wish I could say something classy and inspirational but that just wouldn't be our style. Replacements get win number 2!
Field 2
8am Laces Out v Dillon Panthers - Oo, ee, oo ah ah,
Ting tang,
Wala wala bing bang,
Laces Out wins!
9am Hardville v NWO - name two things I don't care about. Eh, I'll fake it like my girlfriend does when I'm naked. Hardville has fallen on hard times with a 0-2 start. The family dinner at Thanksgiving just got awkward as NWO has one less Arroyo on it now. Of course it should be noted that NWO is undefeated without him. It won't last as Hardville wins a nail biter.
10am Warriors v Miami - This match up answers the question "Which two quarterbacks pack the most asshole into the smallest packages?" Both teams are coming off of losses which means they are sorely in need of a win. I talked to Bruce and he said that even if he loses this game he will not be playing wide receiver anytime soon. I could not get a comment from John. Warriors win.
11am Falcons v Crimson Tide - Who has a the best record and stats in the MCFFL? If you said Falcons you would be CORRECT! Coming into this week the Falcons have let up a league low 18 points. Two weeks into this season the Tide have a third of their win total from the Oilers experiment. Coincidence? They will get one win closer to three after this week.
Field 3
8am Nukes v Overachievers - Not sure Ermi will have any juice in his arm after his unexpected win against Charlie and Elite last week. With how much he thinks about football I suspect it was round-the-clock self love. Since his enshrinement as the OA quarterback Sasso has lost exactly one game as the team's quarterback. When he comes they win. With no baseball to be played I do not expect him to miss any games or the Overachievers to lose. No self love for Chris this week.
9am Money Team v Elite - the champs needed the recovery of an onside play to complete their furious comeback against HMC Elite. Now they face the other Elite team that is coming off of a deflating loss against the Nukes. If the Elite doesn't change their predilection for playing man defense it is going to be another mark in the "L" column.
10am Saints v Irish - Feinstein gets the squad back together and suddenly the natural rhythms of life reemerge. He comes late to games. he is more concerned with stroking the egos of his teammates in a faraway league than he is of coming to play for the team he re-assembled. Do I sound bitter? #FIT The Irish have also reassembled the team that went 9-1 two years ago. All those athletes jumped on the Warriors for an unexpected win. I don't know which Saint team is coming. My bias will be evident when you see that I pick the Irish to win.
11am HMC Elite v Wildcats - HMC Elite=Tune Squad. After creating a new team and going 8-2 the schedule has decidedly elevated for HMC. Last week HMC blew a 25-7 lead to the defending Champs. Everything old is new again as the Wildcats have brought Ronald Shawn Harris back into the fray after a two year exile. However, his presence did little to stymie their week 2 opponents as the Cats lost to the shorthanded Saints. This game should be a barometer of things to come.
Field 4
8am Suicide Squad v Skell Nation - unsure of their prospects coming into the season, Suicide Squad has started the Fall with a 2-0 record. Skell Nation did something no other MCFFL team did last week by holding their opponent to one score. I don't know what a Skell is. Didn't know their was a nation of them and I don't know that they will win. Suicide Squad keeps it going with another win.
9am Lions v You Gon Learn Today - in the offseason Prams put together a team of ragtags and exceeded expectations in a tournament. Looking to build off of that experience, Prams decided to forego combining with the Chargers and forged a new team with some of the players from that Summer excursions. Things are going in Prams's way as he managed to catch Didi Gregorius's record breaking homerun this week. All this out of league success has not parlayed into MCFFL success as the Lions lost their only game of the season. YGLT had a phenomenal Spring campaign. They played to within one game of the Spring championship only to be derailed by Money Team. Coming into this season YGLT has lost a laugher against Commission and a close tilt against the Overachievers. Interested to see the dynamic of this game as YGLT sports the third of the holy triumvirate of short shit talking quarterbacks. No matter how things get spoken I see a win on the field for the Lions.
10am Commission v Old Dogs - both teams win close games last week. Old Dogs needed the successful conversion of an onside play to complete theirs while the commission held of the newly game Crimson Oilers. Commission are playing with a confidence I have not seen in a while, but so are the Old Dogs. However, I just don't see the Old Dogs matching up in a meaningful way.
11am Longhorns v Team USA - in a league full of laces out, dillon panthers and blue bulls; the longhorns have managed to exceed all expectations by allowing the most points in the league through two games. Team USA had a bye last week with their last game a win against the Old Dogs in week 1. Historically speaking Team USA is not an offensive juggernaut so a game against the Longhorns should help with their point totals. Omar won't like me for saying this, but bruh your team has been catching L's like crazy since White Vick let prams walk him down!
