Week 8 Schedule
Double header: Suicide Squad & Warriors
Field 1
8am Spartans v Alter Ego - bottom of the barrel bowl! These two teams are 1-12 coming into this game with a combined 401 points allowed for an average of 31 points a game. I expect the game should be a high scoring affair. If it isn't a high scoring game on the field it certainly will be on one of the sideline. I like Alter Ego to get their first win?
9am Blue Bulls v Those Guys - Good test for these two teams. Both come into the game with strong records and quality wins. With Ramadan over observant Those Guys players should certainly start to feel better. Blue Bulls went 1-1 last week tasting defeat for the first time since opening the season with a loss against the Charlie's. Since Those Guys bullied me on the Facebook page I have been inclined to pick them to save myself from the wrath of Nicholas Alan. I hope he is happy with me this week!
10am Miami v Hardville - Both teams lost last week albeit to very different opponents. Miami took a loss against a depleted Saints and Hardville took their loss against a depleted KPC. Now they get to play each other in a game that will not be close. Miami will win and let everyone they won.
Field 2
8am Suicide Squad v You gon Learn Today - I feel like I haven't seen Suicide Squad since I stopped feeding my Giga Pet. Unlike Suicide Squad I have seen You Gone Learn Today. I saw them take both games of a doubleheader to sit at the top of their division. Interestingly, Suicide Squad sits at the bottom of the division, but only 1.5 games behind You Gone Learn Today. This game will be HUGE for both teams. In spite of that, I can totally see Suicide Squad starting the game short players and playing from behind. You gone Learn Today will be motivated and confident. Just enough to win.
9am Suicide Squad v Warriors - both teams are in desperate needs of wins in order to avoid a trip to the "B's". The Warriors are currently sitting with the 7th seed in their conference while Suicide Squad is at the 12th position. With a game at 8 I think Suicide Squad will have an advantage. Bruce will be just full enough from all the watermelon he eats on Saturday to not be his best. Suicide Squad will keep their A playoff hopes alive with a win.
10am Warriors v Venom - The Bruce Coast Offense has a long history of handling new teams full of inexperienced flag players. The misdirection and the frustration of being unable to keep short players from turning into longer ones will undo the energy and passion Venom has brought to the fields every week. The Warriors will stay on the 500 seesaw.
Field 3
8am Old Dogs v HMC Elite - last season we gave up 37 points to the Old Dogs on opening day. These Old Dogs are coming into the game with one win. We are coming into this game losing for the third time this season against an opponent we were either tied with or beating with two minutes or less. Can never take the Old Dogs lightly.
9am Commission v Average Joes - I have less than no idea what the Commission are doing this season. Watched as they struggled with the Falcons before overcoming them in overtime. The Average Joes have shocked everyone except maybe themselves with the outcome of the season so far. Reality came back up to bite them with a loss against the Lions. Sadly, they will get another dose of reality this week.
10am Falcons v Raptors - Charlie and I were standing around watching games after our game was over last week and Ken Gluck comes over asking if that spot was where, "old quarterbacks hang out?" The Falcons lost an overtime heartbreaker to the Commission. The Raptors shook up the world by hanging 32 on the Irish and sending them on their way to the "B's". In theory, I would pick the hotter team, but the Falcons don't get blown out and Kenny is a championship QB. I think the Falcons find a way to double their win total.
11am Ducks v Bulldogs - tough times have hit the Bulldogs. Losses are mounting after starting the season 3-0. Is Bryan Turner the culprit? Is it the defense? Could it be both? The Ducks are the very definition of mediocre this season. They are 3-3 with the 18th best defense in the league. They have players, now they need to play. Hey Bulldogs, I'm not picking against you!.
Field 4
8am GW Tire v KPC - My town is having a parade today. I could quickly put some fake shit together and make you believe I know what the fuck I am talking about. Ask my wife, I do not. I know that GW Tire is one of the two best teams in the league. KPC has played middling football. This will not be close. GW is changing that KPC tire.
9am Dynasty v Lions - this is not going to go well. The Dynasty is struggling mightily. Lions are only struggling in their minds. When this one is done it will be a one-sided outcome which will hold off the impending Lion mutiny.
10am Irish v Exquisite - I used to know the Irish. Those days are over. The parade is about to start so I'll get to it. Irish is old and Exquisite is new. Mama said there would be days like this, there'd be days like this mama said. Irish makes it their day.
11am Ravens v Knights - The parade was nice. It was followed by a nice field day at the local park. The food vendors were good and a fun time was had by all. I'm going to stay and watch this game so I have something concrete to write about next week. God, I'm a loser. So are the Ravens.
Bye: Saints & Elite - Charlie and Brandon took this week to get away. It is important to reconnect for the health of their relationship. Have fun guys!
